Veterans are at high risk for experiencing homelessness. This can be attributed to traumatic brain injuries and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of their service. Alaska Veterans Foundation’s (AVF) primary mission is to end veteran homelessness in the state.
The foundation has been working to build “VetVillageAK”, a cooperative community based on the "Housing First" model. This is permanent, supportive housing for veterans and their families. Residents are required to make a contribution to their housing cost by working at jobs provided by their partners, or attend classes, while those unable to work off site will be provided employment at the Village.
Join us as we raise funds in support of AVF’s efforts to end veteran homelessness.
