Homes for El Salvador, 2014
Organized by: Joe Stefanko
EVENT DATE Jul 02, 2014
My son and daughter, Ben and Gabrielle, will be traveling with me to El Salvador in July to work with an organization called Epilogos.
Epilogos is a foundation whose mission statement is 'to improve the lives of the impoverished people in the town of San Jose Villanueva by engaging in community development.' This year our group of 24 volunteers, ranging from teenagers to experienced adults, is going to El Salvador to take part in the Epilogos experience. From July 2-11, we will be in the village of San Jose Villanueva building two houses for poor, working families. To build a house we need to raise $6,000 for material expenses and we are also responsible for our transportation expenses. The volunteers and family work together building an earthquake safe home to replace a run down, thrown together hut. Each family repays the cost of the house to Epilogos, providing further opportunities for other families in need of basic housing.
