Honduras Hope Medical Mission
Organized by: Neilly Buckalew
EVENT DATE Aug 15, 2015
We provide the only available medical, dental, and rehabilitative care for the Honduran villages we serve. Our last mission, in 4 days we provided care to over 1800 people! many of whom are children. We are a small team with big hearts.
In addition to the medical work we do each year, we provide water filters and we work with selected Hope Families (30 of the “poorest of the poor” in the community) by providing them with monthly food distributions, rent support, school uniforms and supplies, and more importantly life skills including education scholarships and start-up business support to reach self-sufficiency. You can read more about our work here - http://ingomarchurch.org/serve/world/honduras-hope-mission/
Honduras is plagued with extreme poverty, mounting gang violence, heavy drug trafficking, etc.
Education and self-sufficiency is the key to rising above the grip of poverty.
This year as part of our fundraising effort to inspire folks to contribute, Tim Ferrell and I took part of the Leadville series, digging deep into our body and soul participating in a tough! series of endurance races. Sadly, Tim was part of a rescue of a biker who passed during our 100 mile mountain bike. We will also be donating a small portion of these funds in his memory to the Leadville Legacy foundation that assists impoverished children of Leadville (http://www.leadvilleraceseries.com/visitleadville/legacyfoundation/)
We hope you can dig deep into your pockets to show your support, every little bit counts! Thank you!
