1 in 4 women in the United States will experience severe physical violence at the hands of an intimate partner in their lifetime. 1 in 4 is an epidemic. 1 in 4 is a national crisis. The number 1 reason survivors of domestic violence stay in abusive situations is financial insecurity. A key control tactic used by abusers is destroying their victim's financial situation, forcing them out of employment, denying them access to cash and bank accounts, and/or ruining their credit rating through credit fraud.
FreeFrom is a national grassroots organization working to make sure that every survivor of domestic violence can afford to build safe lives for themselves and their children, free from abuse. Learn more at www.freefrom.org
