Paul James Gardner (April 12, 1945 - December 17, 2015)
Paul was born to Paul and Violet Gardner April 12, 1945 in Caerphilly South Wales near the end of World War II. Paul and his mother Violet came to America by ship, while his father Paul returned with his unit from the Army.
Paul and Violet settled in Columbus Ohio with their childern Paul, Thomas, Annette and Bonita. The family moved to Galloway Ohio in 1957.
Moving into the country was where Paul discovered his love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brother Tom. Paul later shared his enthusiasm for the outdoors with his son George, passing on the knowledge his father had taught him.
Paul attended West Jefferson Local High School, where he excelled in sports, mostly football. Paul and his brother Tom played on the 1962 football team which went on to win the Class A State Championship that year.
Paul graduated from West Jefferson High School in June of 1965 and went on to enlist in the US Air Force in September of 1965. Paul served in Thailand during the Vietnam War as a firefighter. After returning from the war, Paul took a job working at DeSoto.
Paul married Sheila Bennett in 1972. They had three childern, George Gilbert, Christine Lynette and Elizabeth Eileen.
Paul continued to work at DeSoto Paint Factory until retiring after 20 years of service. Paul went on to become a lock smith untill full retirement. Paul moved back to his home town of West Jefferson and enjoyed his retirement.
