Help Texas Kids with Brain Injuries - And Make Dave Suffer!
November 30, 2016
Dave is running the Austin Half Marathon (or Marathon, if he gets ambitious) to support a 5-year old with a brain injury. Kaden was born with a heart defect that required 3 surgeries to correct. During his final open heart surgery in June 2015, he had an air embolism that went to his brain causing an anoxic brain injury. It's hard to imagine the pain and struggles this family has faced along this journey.
Hope4Minds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports Texas families with children who have suffered an acquired brain injury. The organization began as a community effort organized after an 11 year old boy named JD nearly drowned in his family’s hot tub. The family lived in our neighborhood and received support from the community. They later formed Hope4JD, later Hope4Minds, to offer such support to other families.
