I'm running in honor of my little daughter Charley.
On June 3rd, 2016 my precious family unfortunately experienced a horrific car accident on their way from Austin, Texas to Oklahoma City. They were on their way to visit with friends and family. My husband and 3 children were injured but my 5 year old daughter Charley sustained many severe injures including a brain stem injury.
Charley was immediately rushed to Children's hospital ICU in Oklahoma where she remained for 2 months. It was touch and go for many days. Through prayer, faith and the knowledge and care from the amazing nurses and doctors Charley preservered and by month 3 she entered rehab facility in Oklahoma. Once Charley gained enough strength we were able to relocate her to Dell Children's in Austin, which became our new home for 3 more months. Charley is an incredible little girl with much drive and determination. Each and everyday we see much improvement. We have no doubt she is not finished shining and showing us all her strengths and continued healing.
From the Hope4minds website.."When a child experiences a serious brain injury following an accident, it can be paralyzing for the family. HOPE4MINDS provides guidance, advocacy and financial support for these children and their families.
At the heart of our services is the conviction that the health and well-being of these children can improve over time if they have access to therapeutic services, adaptive equipment and educational materials.
