Why I Ride:
As many of you know 2 years ago I joined a bike team and took on riding my first century to raise money to bring clean water to the Pokot Tribe in a remote area of Northwestern Kenya. Not only did I achieve that goal I far surpassed anything I ever thought I would be able to do. Fast forward two years later of being on this mission I have raised over $5,000.00, rode close to 5,000 miles, even ran/walk 5-5k's (yes it is ok to laugh at this) and made my way across the state of Michigan on a bike in one day. Seems the trending theme here is “5”.
Although this year’s riding season has started out much different for me than most, a slow spring start with weather, many busy weekends and a toned down mileage goal. I will not let it take away from the mission our group is on to continue to help those who face new challenges every day to just find clean water to drink and provide for their families.
So my friends this year I ask you to challenge yourself and ask what I can do to help. The answer is easy support the cause and in doing so know you are changing others life’s as you have witnessed what riding has done to change my own.
As always with gratitude.
Over the past thirteen years over 100 wells have been installed. With each one, villages have grown, lives have been saved, communities have been formed, and thousands of people have heard the Gospel for the first time. We have witnessed firsthand the amazing impact clean water can have.
