BENEFITING: Hope Water Project
EVENT DATE: Oct 16, 2016
My name is Sha. I started this fundraising page to benefit the Hope Water Project and the Pokot people of western Kenya. These people are in desperate need of clean water. I realized how much I take access to running water for granted when I leave the water running while brushing my teeth, while doing the dishes, washing my hands constantly, showering daily, flushing the toilet...It hurts my heart to know that the Pokot women and children spend the majority of their day walking miles in search for water in hot arid conditions. Not clean water, mind you; dirty water often contaminated with parasites among other things. This is the water they bring back to their village for their families to survive on. That is, if they find any water at all. The Hope Water Project began to bring clean water to the Pokot. Not only clean running water, but living water through Christ. The HWP supports the sinking of wells to give access to fresh water, something the Pokot have never seen before. Water they can see through is something they never thought existed, until the love of God made it possible. God has given me a purpose to run a half marathon honoring the daily struggles the Pokot face. To walk for seemingly endless miles to gather dirty water to drink. I run with a purpose to end their thirst by raising awareness and money to help sink as many wells as it takes. One well can sustain an entire community of people and we work not only to raise funds for the well, but also to provide a church and schoolhouse for the community, a place for the pastor to live, and men are trained on how to maintain the well. God has made it possible for the Pokot to flourish as a community through Him and by way of your help. Thank you for donating to the Hope Water Project.
