Emma Ekwonna Youth Empowerment Foundation (aka EEYEF) is a non- governmental, not- for- profit and charity/self-help organization established here in Nigeria with the aim of training and empowering women, youths, disabled persons, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) to help them gainfully employed, shun all manner of crimes as caused by idleness and bring peace to the society at large. The foundation has operated since 2007 without registration and funded by the royalties from the sale of the novels written and published by the proprietor. Today, it has been registered to make it have national and international acceptability and easy to access grants and donations. Training and empowering women helps to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS as caused by idleness, reduce the rate of moral crimes like prostitution/capital crimes which is against the teachings of God, reduce domestic violence, create employment, aid women to participate in politics and decision making in Nigeria hence they contribute positively to the economy of the nation (gender equality). Training and empowering youths helps to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS as also caused by idleness, reduce crimes like violence, thuggery, touting, prostitution, kidnapping/hostage-taking, armed robbery, drug abuse/peddling and other unwholesome activities. Training and empowering disabled persons help to give them sense of belonging in the society. It also helps to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and they will contribute to the economic growth of the nation. Fairing for Orphans and Vulnerable Children OVC’s helps them to grow to be useful in life and society at large. It is based on the above that EEYEF as a humanitarian organization was set up to see how these sets of human beings can be reached positively.
