Alyssa Mead's Fundraiser:

We have been given a vision to build an orphanage for 12 children in India who don't have a safe place to call home.

The story behind it:
Ryan and I were busy planning our wedding when God stepped in and decided to change our plans. I had just gotten done reading Francis Chan's book 'Crazy love' I was so moved by what I had just read I couldn't wait to start finding ways to serve God. That night I got home and me and Ryan talked and shared with each other about the book. We got brought to a video called Five Days of Hunger. The video was about a woman who worked for World Vision and felt she couldn't describe in words how bad hunger is so she goes to stay with a very poor family in Africa for five days. Watching this video broke our hearts. This family was so selfless, insisting they serve the woman first before they ate themselves even though they were hungry and had not eaten in a day or two. They were so thankful to God for what they did have and sharing the very little they had with open arms. Our first thought after watching this was wow, what can we do? Jesus says in Luke 12:48, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked". This truth was slowly seeping into our hearts. We realized we didn't need to wait till we were richer, older or had more time. The time was now and we could feel God prompting us to do something. (and if you are wondering we ARE rich compared to the rest of the world). Shortly after that we were lead to Angel House ministries. I knew of this ministry because of a church I attended in Keller, Texas called Milestone. The youth group at this church raised over hundred thousand dollars and built 2 orphanages for 100 children. Praise God! Angel House opens Orphanages all over India, and if you would like to check out there website just click this link. In James 1:22 It says to not only be hearers of the word but doers. Ryan and I have felt God has given us the vision to give up our 'glamorous' reception hall and instead show love to orphaned children who are a half a world away from us, so that they will know they are loved unconditionally and are precious in the eyes of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know that the vision God has given us can not be accomplished by us alone, so would you prayerfully consider joining us in this journey.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:35-40 Jesus tells us that when we care for his children and his people we are in turn loving God himself! Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this vision we have been given and we pray God blesses you!
Thank you,
Ryan and Alyssa
