Hi, I’m posting this in hopes of improving my quality of life. I spend most of my days alone. Isolated. I would like to change this. Right now there are two main things that are keeping me trapped in isolation. My health and lack of money. I am currently lucky to own a business that I can work from home. I am resourceful and have managed to grow this business as well as some other income from other projects I can do from home with little space. I’m lucky that business is good enough to pay the high rent here in Austin, as well as my high medical bills. My health is the biggest factor in my quality of life. I have a rare disease (MCAD/SM) which makes me essentially allergic to everything. It is very isolating as leaving my home-bubble causes me to be sick for several days. It also makes living with anyone or having a spouse extremely complicated. (Imagine living a place where you can’t cook bacon or onions without sending your partner to the ER.) If I could invite groups of people over for a book club or other fun event, I would be better able to control the environment and not be sick. But my current apt is not big enough for that. Recently, I’ve come across some houses that have given me hope in this area. Lennar’s NextGen homes where there are two kitchens, one of which is in a small apartment separate, but within the walls of the same house, connected by a door. This would allow me to date with the hope of it going somewhere, as it would allow my partner more freedom to enjoy their life without endangering mine. It would also give me space to entertain family and friends. These homes also come with great filtration systems, insulation, and sealed windows that help keep costs down as well as limit allergens in the air. This alone will increase my daily health. I’m also hoping that I can rent out one of the bedrooms to help pay for upkeep on the home and any other incidentals, something I can’t think of doing without a separate kitchen area. Unfortunately, I am barely making enough money to pay for rent and medical bills as rent prices in Austin keep skyrocketing. Every time I’ve managed to save a few thousand, I’ve had to have surgery. So saving for a downpayment has not been successful, and am afraid it will never happen before I lose hope in my isolation. I am continuing to work hard to better my situation, but I need help. The NextGen homes are expensive, and even outfitting a home with a separate kitchen is expensive. Donation Goal is to help make the final loan for this kind of setup affordable - attainable. If you know what it’s like to be isolated, please donate. I promise I’ll pay it forward in any way I can. You can also donate to:
