We want to help more animals -- but we need your help!
July 19, 2016
Did you know that thousands of animals are surrendered to shelters every year because the owners were not able to care for the pets properly? Many dogs and cats come in for no fault of their own, maybe because they were "oops" litters and the owners could not find homes for the puppies and kittens, older pets are surrendered frequently because their owners could not afford to vaccinate, test, or give preventatives to their pet. We want to help whenever possible to keep these animals in their homes with the family they know and love. Take for example "Miss Macy" a beloved Basset Hound who may have ended up in a shelter if it were not for H.O.P.E. for Animals.
When Macy's owner lost her home she was in a tough situation. She had no where to stay, she had no income, and she was having a hard time finding a place that would allow her to bring her dog with her. Luckily, she came across a lovely woman who was willing to help her, but on one condition...She had to find a way to get her dog current on vaccines and on preventatives before they could come to stay. Macy's owner turned to H.O.P.E. for help. Thankfully we were able to get Miss Macy current on vaccines and tested for heartworm so they could move into their new home. We were only able to do this however because of special funds that we have set aside just for situations like this.
Each year H.O.P.E. for Animals receives HUNDREDS of applications for assistance from owners who want to do what is right for their animals, but due to unforseen circumstance or just a low income, are not able to afford regular veterinary expenses for the animals (aka...family members) they love so dearly.
H.O.P.E. for Animals is often where these pet owners turn for help. We thankfully have 2 funds set-up to assist these cats and dogs whose owners are in financial distress. "Lucky's Fund" is used to help offset the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, and "Prissy's Fund" is used to help offset the cost of wellness services such as vaccines, and heartworm tests.
This assistance is utilized almost daily and was previously funded by a single donor. Please help us to continue to help animals like "Miss Macy" to receive the care they need to stay healthy and happy, and most of all out of the shelter. We could share 20 more stories of pets we have helped in some manner similar to this -- please donate and help us grow this fund to continue to help pets in need.
