BENEFITING: Children's Home Society & Family Services
The school started their second academic year with 228 students in grades K–5th. There are two K classes and the rest of the grades each have 1 class. The plan is to keep adding grades until the school functions as a full primary school(K-8).There are 128 students under full sponsorship, which covers their tuition, transportation to and from school, educational materials, supplies & participation in the meal programThe local government helps select students to be under sponsorship, as they are aware of the families & kids most in need. Children from all over the Hossana area are coming to the school, which is why transportation is provided. All of the children receive a medical exam and routine check-ups through the schoolDuring the routine exam they found that a few of the students are HIV+. Once their diagnosis was confirmed, the students started receiving anti-retroviral medication & additional support through the school.
