I am writing this on behalf of a client of our food pantry at the Church of Christ in Dale City. Linda has been coming to the food pantry for several years. It was not long after she walked through the doors in need of help that Linda became a dedicated worker at the food pantry, showing several times a week to give back by helping sort and distribute food. And now she is a loved member of our church.
Earlier this year Linda started a new chapter of her life. Surrounded by friends and family, including her grandchildren, Linda was married to her longtime boyfriend, Bruce. Money continued to be tight for her but life was good. That is until two months after her wedding when she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Like so many she does not have health insurance so her only hope for survival is to make the commute to Richmond where she can receive free chemotherapy and radiation treatment at the Medical College of Virginia.
The trip to and from Richmond is exhausting and expensive but Linda and her husband Bruce make the trip because they know it is their only choice. They use what little spare cash they have to put gas in there van to get back and forth to Richmond for her treatments. Linda has only been for a couple of treatments and has quite a few left. On the way home from her last treatment Linda had a flat tire. All of the tires on her van are bad.
To help support Linda in her fight against cancer we are hoping to be able to acquire new tires for Linda, provide her with gas money to make her future trips to Richmond and help over some of their living expenses. Members of the church are donating to help buy the tires and help with some expenses. However, as the treatments continue and Bruce has to take time off to be there for her treatments money will just get tighter. With your help we can ease some of the financial burden giving them one less thing to worry about as Linda fights for her life.
Please help the latest chapter in her life lead to a HAPPY ENDING. Every little bit helps; $4.00 will buy a gallon of gas which is about ¼ of a trip to Richmond. We appreciate your consideration in this matter and hope you will help us make a difference in the life of a wonderful, loving child of God.
P.S. Linda's giving heart should be an example to all of us. Not having much money Linda and Bruce's Honeymoon was spending a few days in Maryland. When they arrive at the hotel Linda was still in her wedding dress. One of the maids told her she was beautiful and her dress was lovely. She remarked that her daughter was getting married and she wished she could buy her a dress like Linda was wearing. With out batting an eye Linda took her dress off and gave it to the maid.
Talk about rendom acts of kindness. Will you follow Linda's lead and give a few dollars to give Linda Hope.

Linda is resting comfortably at home. Family members are taking turns visiting and stay with her. She was in good spirits when we visited today. She wanted to see baby Alaina so we took her along on our visit. It made her smile. She really loves the children. There were two other little ones there and Linda really seemed to enjoy having them around. Keep praying for her and her family.
