BENEFITING: HOPE EQUINE RESCUE
In the last month we have taken in six horses from severe neglect cases. All of these horses require intensive rehabilitation before they can be adopted. Summer is normally our slow time of the year but these horses needed help and we stepped up for them. Please consider helping us help them.
First we have Trooper. He is an 8 month old colt that is starved and because of the neglect is only the size of a 4 month old. He is slowly starting to gain weight and come around but it will be some time before we know if he has any negative effects to his growth from the starvation.
Then we have what we call "The Littles" This is a herd of 5 minis. The stallion (which we have gelded), two mares and two babies. The mares have major hoof damage from years of no farrier care. The damage is severe and will require months of corrective farrier work. The gelding has had major health issues and has already had the vet out three times to treat him. He is slowly getting better but he still has a long road ahead of him. One of the mares has a broken shoulder that was never treated. She has numerous scars on her face and around her ears. She is terrified of people and can't handle her head being touched. The other mare has a huge hematoma in her ear that was never treated and now can't be fixed. It is hard and has caused her ear to flop to the side. Her hooves are the worst.
Please consider making a donation to help make their lives better. All donations will go to their care and purchase feed, hay, vet care, supplements and whatever other items they need for their rehabiliation.
