BENEFITING: HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS
ORGANIZER: HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Last fall, the ING NYC Marathon was cancelled as the area recovered from Hurricane Sandy. Your generous donations helped me exceed my 2012 fundraising goal to support injured service members and their families.
Although the official race was cancelled, with the help of some great fans, my brother-in-law Pat and his brother Greg completed the "Sandy Shuffle", a 26.2 mile course around Central Park.
That said, I will be back at it for the real thing in 2013. On Sunday November 3, 2013, I will be running the ING New York Marathon in support of Hope For The Warriors®, a national, non-profit group that supports injured service members and their families.
Each mile of my training and race-day run will be dedicated to American heroes past and present who have sacrificed in defense of our freedoms. I joined Hope For The Warriors® to not only honor wounded and fallen warriors, but also to honor those in my own family. My run will honor my grandfather, the late James Morrissey, a wounded World War II Veteran, and my brother-in-law, retired Army Captain and Veteran Matthew Hanlon.
With your donation, together we can ensure that no sacrifice is forgotten and Hope For The Warriors® programs can continue to support wounded warriors and their families from the time of injury, through rehabilitation and recovery, and to a bright future beyond recovery.
