Hope for Wally
Organized by: Ryan Sutter
During my family visit to the Philippines, I met a very sweet boy named Wally. Wally is an 8 year old who lives with his mother, father and 3 brothers, Renzo (12), Edward (10) and Marks (1). I got to know Wally well as did my son and I played with the neighborhood kids on a daily basis. I watched as Wally struggled to keep up with the other kids because of the challenges he has with his legs due to cerebral palsy. He also struggles to speak, but nods his head up and down and side to side when we interact. Wally showed me where he lived and introduced me to his family. I was shocked when I saw his home. A shack provides shelter but has no electricity or running water. They regularly skip meals and struggle with daily tasks like laundry and cooking. I decided I had to do something for Wally and his family to ease the burdens of their daily lives. I'm hoping my friends and family will help me in my effort to provide food for Wally and his family and possibly treatment for Wally.
