Founder Jodi O'Donnell-Ames, established Hope Loves Company in 2012, as the result of raising three children who lost a parent to ALS and who needed help and support when there was not anything available for children and young adults.
HLC is the only non-profit in the U.S. dedicated to supporting the children and grandchildren of ALS patients. Support is offered through Camp Hope Loves Company, and through additional projects that provide free educational materials, respite, counseling, and recreational activities for the children. Since HLC's founding in 2012, over 300 children have been have been supported.
HLC focuses on providing free children's books; holding family respite dayin the tri state area, and organizing and executing a highly rated, three-day respite Camp HLC in NJ and NY.
They also distribute "Hugs of Hope" care packages. These packages include a stuffed animal, book, toy and snack to a child caregiver.
In recognition of HLC’s mission and accomplishments, the International Alliance of ALSMND Associations welcomed HLC as a member. HLC’s founder has spoken at the International Alliance of ALSMND Associations’ December 5th, 2013 meeting in Milan, Italy and most recently in 2015, in Orlando, Florida.
