I am a part of a fantastic organization called Random Acts, a nonprofit with the goal to conquer the world, one random act of kindness at a time. Some of the acts are small, while others are pretty epic. Like the work in Haiti. Here's some info from the Random Acts website:
In 2010, we traveled to Jacmel, Haiti, where we rebuilt a dental clinic, refurbished an orphanage with earthquake damage and took down 1600 tools to supply a carpentry school that we helped start.
That was a great beginning.
In 2011, we’re going back!
To build a green multipurpose community center that will:
- Feed and house some of Haiti’s hungry and homeless children
- Educate the children of Jacmel
- Serve as a microlending center
To construct a sustainable fish farm that will:
- Provide a reliable source of protein for the children living in the community center
I would love to be a part of this group, and do some hands-on work to help the people of Haiti. If I reach my fundraising goal of $5000 fast enough, I could be on the team. And even if I don't make that, I know the money I raise will be doing a lot of good in the hands of people who really care.
Every little bit helps, so if you can make a donation please do so! If you can't, then maybe send a few friends this way.
