**MOST RECENT UPDATE: I"M GOING TO HAITI!!! I am the super-lucky winner of the Random Acts raffle, which means even though I didn't make my $5,000 goal, I am still going to Haiti to be in the volunteer group. Also a part of the prize is Random Acts is generously covering all my travel expenses. I am already preparing for the trip, but that doesn't mean you can't still make a donation. We are over 80% of the way to our $200,000 goal, but we need that last push of donations to cover all costs of building the community center. ANY AMOUNT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!! DONATE TODAY!!
I am being featured on the Crowdrise Impact page and am the proud owner of the Bolonga Crest! Check it out!
The yard sale was a smashing success, raising several hundred dollars for the orphans of Haiti. The news article below definitely helped get the word out and the donations rolling.
Random Acts is a wonderful organization who have taken a penny and given a fortune upon the world. Thru them, we are trying to help as many people as possible in the world live a happier, healthier, and better life. Hope to Haiti is one of many projects they organize.
Random Acts will be bringing 22 volunteers to Haiti to help create a refuge for some of Haiti’s hungry and homeless children from June 20th-26th. We will build a green multipurpose community center that will:
* Feed and house some of Haiti’s hungry and homeless children
* Educate the children of Jacmel
* Serve as a microlending center
We will also construct a sustainable fish farm that will:
* Provide a reliable source of protein for the children living in the community center
I can be a part of this unique and exciting experience by raising $5,000 for Random Acts.
Even if I do not raise the $5,000 needed for me to go to Haiti, every dollar donated will still go to the cause and will help those in Haiti. Ever dollar counts! It has been my desire for some time now to *do* something to help with the disasters, which is why I am asking for your help in raising funds so that I can help rebuild Haiti with RA.
So here’s the fine print. RA is only taking the first 40 people who raise enough funds: $5,000. I know, it’s a lot of money, and that’s not even counting airfare. (which I will be covering out of my own pocket if I get to go) But this is something that I believe in and hope you do too. Any kind of assistance will help - whether it’s a donation of any amount or just telling a friend, “Hey, my friend Jessica is trying to go help out in Haiti - can you help her get there?” And since space is limited, time is of the essence in raising the funds.
Please help me use my muscles for a good cause. If you can find it in your heart to donate, I (and the people of Jacmel) will be very grateful. And remember, every little bit helps!
