First a bit of background regarding Hope to Haiti:
Two years ago after a devastating earthquake hit Haiti, Random Acts (a privately organized charity group encouraging random acts of kindness), funded a journey to assist in the rebuilding of the community in Jacmel, Haiti. They were able to reconstruct a dental clinic, refurbish an orphanage, and found a carpentry school with 1600 tools donated during their initial visit in 2010.
The Random Acts team were back in Haiti in 2011 with a group of volunteers who helped raise money for the continuing rebuilding of the Jacmel community. They helped construct a multi-purpose community center that will provide shelter, food, and education for the homeless and orphaned children.
Random Acts will be returning to Jacmel again this year to continue the construction of this community center.
I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but being able to help others is something that is very important to me. Human beings, no matter who they are or where they're from deserve a chance to live a happy life. It breaks my heart reading about the situations people have to endure through no fault of their own, and I would love to be able to take part in this opportunity to connect with these children and put a smile on their faces.
The first 22 individuals to raise $5000 will be allowed a spot on the 2012 trip. From my understanding, all the funds raised will be donated towards the project--travel costs and living expenses are to be taken care of by the volunteers themselves, so do not worry about where your money is going! :)
If you can donate even just $10.00 I will be eternally grateful. A little goes a long way. And even if you can't donate, please take a moment to share this with your friends and family to help spread the word.
