BENEFITING: Hopeful Africa
EVENT DATE: Oct 01, 2013
About 5 years ago in February 2008, a 16 year old boy gave a speech about his homeland; little did he know that it would change his life. Moses Bomett, who was a junior at Valley High School in West Des Moines, shared about the current situation in Africa and offered a solution to help solve some of the challenges that Africa faces. At the end of the speech competition he thought was done, but it wasn’t long before a friend challenged him to start a club at their school that would put into practice the solutions Moses discussed. It was there that Hope 4 Africa was born.
Five years and many speeches later, over $40,000 has been invested in 6 partner schools in Kenya, benefiting over 1,500 students every year. Hope 4 Africa has grown to several colleges, universities, and high schools in the Midwest and beyond. However, this is just the beginning of what we believe is a new era for the partnership between the youth of America and the youth of Africa.
Our mission is “to provide an opportunity to the youth of America to partner with the youth of Africa in bringing sustainable prosperity to Africa.” This is why we are launching our first ever Hope Tour. Our founder, Moses will go the road across America to schools, community organizations, and faith groups to share the story of Hope 4 Africa and invite the youth of America to be activists and help bring a lasting prosperity to the youth of Africa.
