BENEFITING: Hope Water Project
ORGANIZER: Hope Water Project
EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 60
It's no secert, I like to run. I run around 5 days a week. I have run a few half marathons and was happy with that. I had absolutely 0 desire to run a full marathon, EVER. That all changed on 3/19 while I was sitting in Kensington Shelby and read about the Hope Water Project (HWP) kick off on the 20th. I knew the HWP ran the Detroit Marathon and I've seen the running shirts around town but that was it. This was the first time EVER that I felt even the smallest desire to run a marathon.
SO I attended the HWP kick off meeting on the 20th. The kick off was a spiritually moving event for me. Hearing the stories about the impact people are making through the HWP had me fired up to get involved. Despite my own desire to NEVER run a marathon, God moved me to take the plunge and commit to a marathon. I feel that this is truly a higher calling. I am going to challenge myself in ways I have not before to help people have access to fresh water around the world. We are all human beings and deserve basic needs for life and clean water is one of those. I look forward to doing all I can to help people around the world get access to fresh, clean water.
From the Hope Water Project:
Water is life…and hundreds of millions of people around the world are suffering today because they do not have access to clean water. Hope Water Project is committed to providing clean water by partnering with communities and drilling deep water wells in some of the world’s neediest areas. Our current project is to provide 1,000 new water wells for the Pokot tribe in northwestern Kenya.
