THE STORY:

HOPEWORKS OF HOWARD COUNTY INC wrote -

Make your contribution to HopeWorks of Howard County count like never before.  HopeWorks has the chance to win $100,000 if we receive the most donations during this year’s Purple Purse Challenge.  Last year we raised $25,693 and we know that this year we can finish in the top five and take home a big prize in addition to your donation.

HopeWorks is Howard County, Maryland’s sexual, dating and domestic violence center. We are guided by a vision of a world of interconnected people and communities actively working toward a society where all people are safe and valued and where everyone can reach their full potential. To get there, we provide critical services to those impacted by domestic and sexual violence while we fight for the justice and transformation in our communities that can eliminate the root causes of violence. As captured in our video, one of the ways HopeWorks does this is through our participation in Getting Ahead, a program that helps individuals in poverty build resources for a more prosperous life for themselves and their families, and allows them to examine the effects of poverty on their personal resources and what it takes to improve those resources.

We are proud of our strong history of supporting survivors as they heal with the specialized care our dedicated staff provides on a daily basis. Critical also to our mission is engaging the entire community in the work of changing the conditions that allow sexual and domestic violence to occur in the first place. This part takes all of us.

Domestic and sexual violence are not inevitable.

Prevention takes an entire community working together – challenging and changing the beliefs, attitudes and culture that allow them to exist. And it takes hope. Hope builds momentum and momentum creates change…when we work together. Our community can be stronger and better and safer when we are all engaged in this work together.

This is the spirit of HopeWorks. We believe our name says as much about us as an agency as it does about us as a community.

We are HopeWorks. Each and every one of us.

We need you to help us win this challenge.

We need you with us to reach our vision.
