BENEFITING: HOPEWORKS OF HOWARD COUNTY INC
ORGANIZER: HOPEWORKS OF HOWARD COUNTY INC
EVENT: Purple Purse Challenge
What is it?
Yoga Salutes Nonviolence (YSNV) is a charity event to benefit HopeWorks of Howard County, our local rape crisis & domestic violence center. This year's event will be held at the Yoga Center in Columbia at 2:00 P.M. on November 14, 2015.
This year, we have combined this event with the Purple Purse Challenge so that all of the money we raise can do double duty and also help HopeWorks win up to $100,000! Join us and help stop suffering in your hometown!
I'm busy -- but can I just donate?
Yes! We welcome all donations even if you cannot attend the YSNV event itself. It's quick and easy! You can make a contribution of $10 or more right here. (The $10 minimum is a requirement of Crowdrise -- the site collecting donations for this Challenge.) We thank you for your contribution and hope you can join us in 2016!
About the Purple Purse Challenge from HopeWorks:
Make your contribution to YSNV count for HopeWorks like never before. HopeWorks has the chance to win $100,000 if they receive the most donations during this year’s Purple Purse Challenge. Last year, we came in 12th out of 120 organizations, raising $27,150. We know we can finish in the top 5 this year and take home a big prize in addition to your donation.
HopeWorks is Howard County, Maryland’s sexual, dating and domestic violence center. We hold a vision of a world where all women and girls are safe and everyone is able to live up to their full potential. To get there, we provide critical services to those impacted by domestic and sexual violence while we fight for the justice and transformation in our communities that can eliminate the root causes of violence.
We are proud of our strong history of supporting survivors as they heal with the specialized care our dedicated staff provides on a daily basis. Critical also to our mission is engaging the entire community in the work of changing the conditions that allow sexual and domestic violence to occur in the first place. This part takes all of us.
Domestic and sexual violence are not inevitable.
Prevention takes an entire community working together – challenging and changing the beliefs, attitudes and culture that allow them to exist. And it takes hope. Hope builds momentum and momentum creates change…when we work together.
Our community can be stronger and better and safer when we are all engaged in this work together. This is the spirit of HopeWorks. We believe our name says as much about us as an agency as it does about us as a community.
We are HopeWorks. Each and every one of us.
We need you to help us win this challenge.
We need you with us to reach our vision.
