Please Help Me get to Panama
Organized by: E Rizzo
EVENT DATE Nov 30, 2014
I am a first-year full-time graduate student pursuing an MSW (Master's in Social Work) at Cal State San Bernardino and the opportunity has arisen to practice a core value of the profession of Social Work, which is to "enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty" (NASW website). As a volunteer I will be working with a group of my classmates to build a church for a town in Panama.
For five days we will be construction workers by day and workshop facilitators by night, we are hoping that our efforts will help those in need. The money donated will help buy donations that will be taken to the townspeople such as, toys, notebooks, pencils, hygiene products and anything that is useful, as well as fund the airfare. Any little helps, really, I am not one to ask for help but this is something that really means a lot and it is for a good cause. I would be so grateful and appreciative to be able to seize the opportunity and do some great work in another country.Thank-you so very much for taking time to read the pleas of this dreamer.
