BENEFITING: HOPKINTON EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
The Hopkinton Education Foundation has selected me to run in the 2014 Boston Marathon. This great organization provides teachers with the funding needed to take their creativity and knowledge in education to create opportunities for students not provided for in the school budget. Whether it is developing a new language learning program or creating an outdoor classroom, the foundation offers teachers the means necessary to have a positive impact. I hope you will join me in helping to raise $5,000 for the Hopkinton Education Foundation.
This letter is filled with emotion. Nothing we can say or do can change the terrible events of the 2013 Marathon. It is in the past and out of our control. However, we CAN change what we do going forward. Wherever your passion may lie, you can have a positive impact.
Overcoming adversity is one of my passions. Watching how people deal, react, and overcome challenges is truly amazing. How does this relate to my running of the Boston Marathon for the Hopkinton Education Foundation? Last year, after the horrific events of the Boston Marathon, the Challenged Athletes Foundation reached out to offer help and support to the victims. I wanted to donate and I didn’t. I regret not making the effort to effect a positive change.
The Hopkinton Education Foundation has given me a way to make this right. Kami and I want to take this opportunity to make a donation to Challenged Athlete Foundation alongside your donation to the Hopkinton Education Foundation. We hope we can bring a little help to these two fine organizations that provide help to so many.
The streets of Boston on April 21 will be filled with passion and support; I hope this letter finds you well and motivates you to awaken your passion and take a little time to make a positive change. With much anticipation for Race Day,
