Over the past 12 years, the Run for Homeless Children team has raised more than $1.1 million to improve the lives of young homeless children and their families.
Each year, a team of passionate and committed supporters runs the Boston Marathon to fundraise and spread the word about the crisis of child and family homelessness.
Your support of these incredible runners will make a difference in the lives of homeless children. Learn more at horizonschildren.org
Our mission is to improve the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. To support our mission, we also advocate on behalf of young children, train educators and human services providers, and provide research on the impact of early education on homeless children.
Every homeless child will have the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive.
MY STORY: Hello friends and family, and thank you for visiting the Horizons for Homeless Children Team fundraising page for the 2013 Boston Marathon. As some of you may have already heard through the social grapevine, I have pledged to run the 2013 Boston Marathon in support of improving the lives of homeless children in Massachusetts.
I was first introduced to Horizons for Homeless Children a few years ago through a friend that helps organize their annual Route for Kids 5K running event. It was at these events where I heard first hand stories of how Horizons is impacting the community by offering early childhood education, play time opportunities and family support.
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, play and have support around them to help them to grow and achieve their goals in life. This event is one small step in helping these children have those opportunities in life and reach their goals. I’m asking you for your support to make 2013 a very special year for many children. Thanks. - John
