BENEFITING: Hospice of Michigan, Inc.
Hospice of Michigan provides terminally ill patients and their families with love and support when they need it most. By providing comprehensive, compassionate care, HOM helps make end-of-life as dignified and peaceful as possible. Unlike for-profit hospice organizations, Hospice of Michigan welcomes all patients, regardless of age, diagnosis, or ability to pay. Services such as pain management, personal care, emotional and spiritual support, and grief support are available to all who need and seek our care. Our services are provided by committed staff and volunteers who work together to form a cocoon of care around patients and families.
Through its Open Access Program, Hospice of Michigan is able to provide its services to patients who: (1) Do not qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, or are without private insurance; (2) Whose diagnosis is costly and whose care exceeds the current daily reimbursement; or (3) Whose age makes them ineligible for traditional hospice services (for example, our Pediatric Early Care and Pediatric Program patients). HOM also provides grief support services to grieving families, caregivers, and community members completely free of charge.
Hospice of Michigan relies on the support of individuals and organizations to sustain its Open Access Program. A grant from Art Van’s Million Dollar Charity Challenge will help us continue to provide the same high quality, loving care that we have for over 30 years.
