First, I will give you my introduction. My name is Abid Majid Kanue and I'm from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. When my family and I were visiting Kashmir last year, one of daughters' (3 months old) got very sick. She had such a bad chest infection that she couldn't breathe. We took her to a government hospital and what I saw there made me realize how little they had to work with. There were not enough doctors, nurses, rooms, equipments or beds to take a care of a person let alone a 3 month old baby. Our baby needed to use a nebulizer to make her breath easily, an equipment sold in the US for less than $25 and this children's hospital had only 2! There were 2 stations in the hospital where you could utilize this equipment and there was a line of 5 parents in front of me at each station. Parents had to this on their own because there weren't enough nurses to help. The hospital didn't have individual rooms, there were 2 large rooms with beds and all the bed were occupied by at least 2 or 3 patients per bed. While I was scared to death for my child, I realized that this is an everyday struggle for the people of Kashmir. As a parent, I realized there's an ever growing need for proper and adequate equipment in this children's hospital in Kashmir. I don't think a child needs to die because of a shortage...something that could have easily saved their life. In today's world, where there is so much happening where we wish we could help someone....well, here is your chance! We would like your help and support in providing equipment for this hospital. We would like to raise money to provide them with beds, blankets, pillows, stretchers, nebulizers and other medical equipment. Please help us make this dream come true and help us save a life. Any effort can save a life. Thank you. We really appreciate it and I know parents in Kashmir will also be grateful.
