ADOPT A HOUSE INC wrote -We are a family of 5 with three small children ages 8, 6 and 2. This is the second time we are displaced in the last two years because our home was completely flooded in Hurricane Irene and now destroyed from Super Storm Sandy. We have been living in a rental trailer on our front lawn for the last five months as we still wait for insurance money.
We continue (as always) to pay our mortgage on time even though our house in inhabitable while we have to pay $2,600 a month in rent for this trailer. Our electric bill is close to $1,000 a month because it is only run on electric. We are in financial trouble since all of our savings was used up after Hurricane Irene. In addition to our home being destroyed, our backyard fence, pool and deck were demolished from the storm surge. This was a 25 year old pool and deck that came with our house. But now we have a giant 30 ft wide and 8 ft hole in the ground. Our homeowners insurance will not cover this damage because it was caused by water. Needless to say, our backyard is not safe for our three young kids to play because a street is right behind the property and this hole is a hazard. We desperately need to repair the yard by reinstalling the fence and filling in the hole so our children have a place to play. Any money raised will be used toward this project because we are depending on insurance money to repair the home.
We have been blessed by the kindness of strangers during this entire disaster. Any amount you can spare to help out my family will greatly be appreciated more than you'll ever know. And it is our goal to get our family back on it's feet and pay all this kindness forward to others.
Thank you for reading our story and helping us out!
