Friends of the House of Churchill,
Our House of fifty men are seeking your help in fundraising for our Spring Retreat. The Retreat is a tradition for the House and has deeply impacted the lives of our men each year. The Retreat is a life giving and rejuvenating experience, and we need your support and help to raise the funds for this event to occur.
Come the first week of March, the House is going to upstate New York to fellow Churchillian, Brandon Santulli’s house. There we will enjoy a few days of bonding, brotherhood, and fellowship. For us to be able to take 50 guys Upstate to the Adirondacks, feed them, and provide activities, the House needs to raise $2500.
Last year, the House made the same trip to the Santulli household. We played ultimate Frisbee, hiked, and romped around in the snow. The highlight of the retreat was a candid campfire conversation. Our House President, Brandon Trotter, decided to share his story. His candor was compelling and made others feel comfortable. Five hours later, most of the House had shared their stories unprompted.
We all came back to the city the very next morning and life carried on, but we carried the memory of that night with us. The House of Churchill is a brotherhood that has been forged in vulnerability and support – something not easily broken. It was in this spirit that we marched on to an Interregnum Cup victory and a House Cup victory last year. The Cup victories were only reflections of the victory we had won that night at the campfire on the retreat. We had broken down walls and shared experiences with one another that many of us had never told another living soul.
It was an incredible and special moment for our House. Its occurrence was a pivotal moment for us as individuals and as a House. THIS WAS OUR FINEST HOUR! It is our heart to have a similar experience with our group again this year.
Thank you for your past contributions to the House. We ask that you consider giving generously and reflect on the friendships and experiences you formed during your formative college years
We cannot do this without you. Thank you for helping us to forge and strengthen our brotherhood.
Sincerely, Sean Spurlock President, The House of Churchill
