Dear Family and Friends,
The time spent in college is a small window where lifelong friendships are made and character is shaped. The House System at King’s gives us a chance to enjoy sisterhood and learn how to initiate meaningful relationships that offer accountability and support. Over this summer, the leadership team of the House of Queen Elizabeth I is fundraising $2,000 to cover two important expenses:
● $500 will be used for our first House dinner of the year where incoming students meet with upperclassmen and alumni.
● $1,500 will be used to cover the cost of renting a facility, transportation, and food for our Fall House Retreat.
At our House dinner, the first-year students meet alumni and upperclassmen who each share a piece of advice with them. Every fall this meal is a special way of introducing first-years to the many faces who will love and support them in their big year of transition.
In 2013, we also traveled to a sea-side mansion in New Jersey for a weekend of rest and community building for our House retreat. During this weekend our initiation took place, and the girls met over meals to set both individual and House-wide goals. But beyond dawn ceremonies and deep conversations, a new highlight – and a new QE1 tradition – was undoubtedly the Saturday night talent show!
Your donation towards these events helps the executive team prepare a dinner open to current and past Elizabethans, and a weekend that strengthens the bonds of sisterhood as we begin our fall semester.
