Domestic violence is a life-threatening epidemic that affects 1 in 4 women in our society. It also affects men, children, and families. The physical trauma of domestic violence robs people of their self-esteem, empowerment, and hope for their future.
But not all domestic violence is physical. More and more individuals are being abused through financial means -- many victims are literally robbed of their personal earnings by their abusers, leaving them with few choices but to either stay or return to the abuse.
House of Ruth is dedicated to increasing the safety and well-being of those victimized by domestic violence. We work to rebuild survivors' lives with emergency and transitional shelter, individual counseling, children's programming, prevention, and outreach.
Your gift towards our fundraising goal of $100,000 during the month of October will help us to expand the conversation about financial abuse and strengthen our programming and advocacy for survivors and their children.
So partner with House of Ruth and help us end the invisible threat of financial abuse as a growing form of domestic violence -- give to our Purple Purse Challenge today!
