Houston Headstart Teacher's Fund

Over 1,230 students are enrolled in Harris County's Head Start program. Each student receives free healthy meals and snacks; vision, hearing, nutrition and developmental screenings; and guided physical activity in a safe, fun environment. Head Start plays a critical role in making sure kids aged 3-5 get the resources they will need to succeed in K-12 schools. But..... Now some of their teachers need a little help, too. Federal guidlines for Head Start have forced some of the most qualified and experienced educators to be at risk of losing their jobs. Though already grossly underpaid, some teachers now need an expensive certification in order to continue doing the jobs they already excel at. These teachers are still dedicated to serving kids and want to remain part of the Head Start community, but simply cannot afford to pay for the certification. Will you chip in to help them get certified? Head start teachers give kids a fighting chance at a fuller, healthier life. Now let's pull together and show these teachers we have their backs!
