Richard SAYS:
To All My Wonderful Donors, …
To All My Wonderful Donors,

As the 2014 Angel Ride venture draws to a close, I want to thank you once again most sincerely for your generosity and kind support.
As one fortunate to have never had to spend even one night in hospital, I can only imagine how tough it is to be a kid hospitalized for weeks or months at a time. Add to that the fear and anxiety, the pain and isolation, and it all sounds pretty grim.
To help ease their suffering, what you have done is helped to send specially trained camp counselors to the bedside of these kids, carrying 'camp in a suitcase' and filling their day with games, arts, crafts, laughter and a distraction from their cares.
I wanted to pass along to you something that was told to me by a girl, a teenager at the camp. As a child, she had spent many months in hospital, battling cancer. She was visited numerous times by the camp's Hospital Outreach Program counselors. Later, she had the opportunity to attend camp. Now cancer free, she is a volunteer at camp.
She told me that when she was in the hospital, "...knowing there were people out there, people who didn't even know me, but who cared about me. That meant so much!"
She thinks you are pretty special. I do too!
Go on -- give yourself a clap on the back. You deserve it!

Have a great summer!

Very best regards,

P.S. I am inviting you and your friends to join me in a much shorter (much easier than Angel Ride) charity ride on September 6th. I am putting together a team of novice to intermediate riders to ride the Camp Challenge. The ride will commence at Hole in the Wall Camp in Ashford and return to the camp for lunch with your family, entertainment, camp tours, etc. Because you may choose to ride as little as 15 miles, it is a great way to ease into the fun of cycling for a cause. I am committed to helping to prepare those team members who need to work up their miles in the saddle and will lead out various training rides for all levels over the summer. For those who prefer shank's mare, there is also a 5K run at camp. And there is even a kid's ride for ages 4-13!
I would love to have you as a team member. I can promise you a great day on September 6th. Camp takes really good care of and appreciates it's volunteers.
I am pasting a link below to the site where you can read a little more about the event.
Feel free to call me at 203-430-5236 with any questions. R.
