THE STORY:
Howl on Wheels will be blazing in its debut at So Mush Fun. We will start the race and we WILL finish the race. Well, if a squirrel crosses our path, there could be a long, exciting detour. You’ll want to point your cell phone cameras in our direction. Miranda, our squirrel huntress turned urban Musher, was found running loose two years ago on the streets of Sacramento. Northern California Sled Dog Rescue lived up to its name and rescued her. The very next day, she became my girl. For this race, Miranda teams up with Tashi, an old pro, who is also part of another team at the race. Miranda and Tashi have a crush on each other, so pulling a sulky together is like a date-on-wheels. And it’s for such a fantastic cause. NorSled helps find homes for huskies, malamutes and other northern breeds – and in the meantime provides the care each dog needs while awaiting placement in their fur-ever home.
