THE STORY:

Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HRHCC) was founded in 2003 as as non-profit 501(c)6 organization for the purpose of serving as the principal resource and advocate for the joint promotion of Hispanic Businesses, Consumers and Organizations. For the past 11 years we have proudly served as a gateway to the Hampton Roads Hispanic market.

Our success as a viable organization relies solely on membership dues and fundraising activities throughout the year. With the support of sponsors and members, since 2011 we have successfully delivered Nuestra Feria (Our Fair) to our community; a Latino flavored event that celebrates our culture and also serves as a vehicle for HRHCC to engage, entertain. support, inform and foster a spirt of fellowship within our Hamton Roads community.

Once the fun and excitement of Nuestra Feria has culminated, we bring together our sponsors and supporters to acknowledge their efforts in helping us succeed and award several scholarships to local students graduating from high school or already attending a higher education institution. Each year our goal is to raise enough funds to pay for the expenses to deliver Nuestra Feria, host a business lunch, and present several well deserving students with a small token of appreciation for their commitment and hard work, in the form of a one-time scholarship award. We have been successful in awarding scholarships to local Latino high school graduates and college students in May each year, for the past three years, at our Business Recognition and Scholarship Awards function. Since 2011 we have awarded a total of $6,000, and hope to increase that amount to $9,000 after this year's scholarships are awarded.

One more thing, we do all this work on a volunteer basis; we have no paid staff. This is sometimes a challenge for us, but we always manage to come through it all feeling grateful for the opportunity to serve, and motivated to keep moving forward.

We are only weeks away from the awards lunch and could use some help with getting additional donations to reach our goal. ALL donations received from this fundraiser will be awarded on May 30th or shortly thereafter. Hopefully will get more than we are hoping for and make some additional donations for summer camps for our Latino children!

¡MIL GRACIAS!
