When Emmy Award winning journalist Ruchira Gupta brought together 22 women from Mumbai’s red light district to film the documentary The Selling of Innocents, the women formed a connection that broke through the isolation of their sexual exploitation and gave them the strength to resist their horrendous circumstances.
With a vision to bring that same empowerment to other women and girls across India, they founded Apne Aap. Today Apne Aap’s work reaches more than 10,000 women and girls, providing safe spaces where women and girls can gather, access education, improve their livelihood and receive legal rights training.
Your gift of $40 will provide a month of skill training to a teenage girl at risk of being trafficked by sex predators.
