Join HSCA's fundraising team and help save lives!

Traveler's Fund was created to ensure that no medically treatable animal needs to suffer without treatment at Humane Society Calumet Area (HSCA). Animals treated through Traveler's Fund have had illnesses that require medical costs beyond standard care.
Every day, animals lives are saved by the donations raised through Traveler's Fund. Animals, like Chi (pictured), are given a second chance at life.
Chi arrived at HSCA in horrific shape. Two dogs had pulled his ear through a chain link fence and attacked him, leaving gaping wounds from his neck to right ear. Chi had to be carried into the shelter. He refused to eat and seemed to have given up on life. The medical staff at HSCA tended to his wounds, got his temperature back to normal, and convinced him to eat some food, but Chi’s wounds went deeper than his bodily injuries.
After his attack, Chi was nervous around other dogs. HSCA’s behavior staff assigned him a “helper dog” so he could become comfortable with other dogs and people. With time and plenty of treats, Chi gained weight and confidence. Chi did so well that he ended up enjoying playgroups with other dogs and learning how to “sit” for treats.
He went from being nervous and sick to being a happy, healthy dog that was adopted last month into a loving home, and it's all thanks to donors liek you who give animals like Chi a bright future.
