Shared Humanity - Delivering Hope & Shelter:
We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every human being. We believe in an interconnected world where our actions and inactions can have a lasting impact on ourselves and our fellow human beings. We believe all human beings want to give and receive justice, equality, and compassion. We believe distressed communities have the talent, resources, and knowledge to affect positive change and Shared Humanity can assist them to remove obstacles to self-determination. We believe the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice and love for our shared humanity!
Our Mission: To serve people forcibly displaced by war, persecution and oppression and economic deprivation.
Our Goal: The Shared Humanity goal is to protect the human rights of people violently torn from their homes to live in peace and dignity by providing:
- Urgent and sustained humanitarian aid not provided by other organizations
- Education for preschool children
- Occupational training and vocational skill development for adults
- assistance in applying for asylum
Our Strategy: To partner with displaced migrant communities, local non-profits and established international organizations to develop educational training and education for adult men and women. To support migrant communities by advocating for more humane living conditions and by protecting their right to seek asylum. To link migrant communities with volunteer support networks both in and outside the United States.
