BENEFITING: Huntington's Disease Society of America, Inc.
Thank you for visiting my fundraiser page. I am very excited to have the opportunity to raise money for such an important cause.
The last few months of my life, I have made myself a priority again. I have found a passion in my new career path, and I have started working hard towards my health and fitness goals. Making myself a priority also means following my heart, which has been telling me I need to do something to help for awhile.
For those who know my story, you know that I lost my mom at 13 to Huntington's Disease, which has been described as ALS, Parkinson's, and Alzheimers put together. It isn't pretty, and is incredibly hard to witness. You also know my brother and I grew up knowing we had a 50/50 shot at inheriting the same disease, with hope science would find a way to cure it before the time came we would have to worry about it. There is still no cure.
While I am incredibly fortunate to not have inherited the disease, my brother is not so fortunate, and the same is true for so many families as this gets passed on from generation to generation. These families need support and there needs to be a cure.
We are only given one life to live, and I choose to live mine with hope; hope for a world with a cure, where families don't have to deal with this disease any longer. Research has come so far and they are so close to many breakthroughs that not only would help find a cure for HD, but potentially help so many other diseases as well. Any dollar helps, and will help fuel me across the finish line as I race for my mom, my brother, this community and myself. Thank you again for all your support!
