It was a gorgeous crisp autumn morning and the Wasatch Mountains were covered in a spectacular showing of fall colors. I thought about the many wonderful days I'd spent running high atop those towering peaks, where life's problems seemed so small.
Now I was being wheeled into a operating room to find out how far cancer had spread its way into my body.............I needed those mountains more than ever and vowed to get back.
I'm so grateful to say I did make it back; I've now been cancer free seven years. Please help me give back to a great institution like the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
And for you who have fought and those who fight on............Lori, Dad, Steve, Bill, Reed, LaRee, Heber, Kate, well done.............may you always have a mountain to shore you up, to give you the strength and hope you need.
The Huntsman Hometown Heroes program allows participants to train for and compete in an endurance event of their choice while raising much-needed funds for cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
