Hurricane Matthew Relief
Organized by: William Edstrom
Destruction caused by Matthew
October 06, 2016
Though we are only beginning to hear the first of the devastation in the USA, groups are forming to begin collecting funds and aid to help immediately. This will be a long and painful process for those that have lost a great deal.
Many from the affected communities have created a Hurricane Relief Fund. Please help us in anyway you can.
These funds will be used for food, temporary shelter and supplies needed immediately. Thank you in advance for your generous support!!! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out by placing a note on the board here or on Facebook. We greatly appreciate any support you can offer!

1998 Category 2 Hurricane Georges killed 400
1994 Category 2 Hurricane Gordon killed 1,000
2004 Tropical Storm Jeanne killed 3,000
In 1963 the only Category 4 Hurricane Flora killed 8,000
The current population of Haiti is over 11 million and the conditions for many are worse than they were in 1963, due to the Earthquake in 2010 which many have not been able to recover from.
40” of rain in some areas, devastating mud slides pounded the south side of Haiti. The wind gusts were over 140 mph and reached over 35 miles outside of the cone of the storm. This type of wind can cause even well-built homes to sustain major damage; however the homes are far from sturdy or well-built.
The hurricane resulted in crops to be completely wiped out and caused malnutrition and death. Please help us to be able to provide food & water to those impacted by the storm. Unlike the money given to other organizations after the hurricane, the money collected will go directly to help aid those in need of basic necessities.
A large bag of rice is $25.00, one bag of beans is $50.00, a pint size water bag is $0.02. If you would like to help we will be sending the money via wire transfer directly to Haiti, the Bahamas and the SE USA and the staff will purchase items and distribute to those in need.
We will do the most we can with whatever is provided.
