Our city has sustained unimaginable damage from Hurricane Sandy. As we emerge and many of us start getting back to life as normal, the horrifying impact continues to be felt in areas of New York where our neighbors struggle to survive and rebuilt.
We're counting on a local non-profit organization, New York Cares, that supports emergency relief and mobilizes volunteer efforts.
As NYC puts it: "While things are changing by the minute, one thing is certain: there are many challenges—both short and long term—that need to be addressed, and many people want to help.
New York Cares is on the job, working closely with the Office of Emergency Management and NYC Service to develop robust volunteer programming in response to priority needs as they are assessed."
