Check out what Team Leader and my good compadre Chris Weldon wrote below for the gist of what we are trying to accomplish here. But, keeping it (kinda) short and (not really all) sweet up top, you or someone you know in the Tri-state was affected in some way, large or small, by Hurricane Sandy. A couple of us (read: Chris and Charlotte tricked me) felt that we could have somewhat of an impact and help out in some small way by participating in the NJ Marathon to raise funds for the clean up/re-building that is underway, with more to come. I've already been stressing my body on runs so that I will not completely embarrass myself (unlike the marathon pro trifecta Chris/Charlotte/Sarah) and will be willing to debase myself further for your donations. Do the worm across the finish line? Run mile 17 backwards? Dump water down my pants to make it looked like I peed myself (slash pee myself while running)? It's all up for negotiation depending on your donation. But, seriously, please donate. Do not make me beg as it won't be pretty. And thank you very much in advance for your generosity and help.

Thank you so very much in advance for your kind donation.
Hurricane Sandy was the most brutal natural disaster to hit the tri state area in decades. It is estimated that 30,000-40,000 New Yorkers and countless more in New Jersey are homeless and that there was upwards of $50 billion of damage. As I am sure you have read in the press, Congress is dragging their feet, so we have come together to help NOW!
As local tri-staters, our families and friends have been massively affected by the storm and a group of us has come together to do what we can to help.
We are putting together a team to run the New Jersey Marathon on May 5, 2013 to raise awareness and donations for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. We have partnered with the Community Foodbank of NJ and have set a goal of $20,000 for our team. While the race is still a few months out, we ask that you please consider making a donation as soon as possible as the victims of the storm can use the help today.
Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration.
