THE STORY:

WAYPOINT SERVICES FOR WOMEN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES wrote -

Think of a time someone BELIEVED in you. Whether it was a friend, co-worker, family member, or spouse, it's hard to forget how invincible you felt in that moment. When an individual is living on the street, caught in the cycle of violence, or desperately trying to make ends meet, a positive outcome seems impossible. By BELIEVING in Waypoint, you're providing hope to community members when they need it most. Each year, Waypoint gives individuals the strength and desire to move forward in their lives through our Homeless and Shelter Programs, Domestic Violence Victims Services, and Child Care.

One crisis can turn anyone’s world upside down - in the blink of an eye, everything could change. Your contribution can be the force of change that creates clarity and stability for a homeless mother with children searching for an affordable home; a woman fleeing her abuser; and a family that can’t afford child care.

Together, we can help people BELIEVE in a brighter future.

Closing out the 2016 school year, the Prairie High sophomore class is setting up this fundraiser to both make a difference in our Cedar Rapids community and to learn 21st century life skills.

Looking to raise money through fun activities provided at the school, a group of students are creating an authentic Escape Room to help provide a source of revenue for Waypoint. A humble organization that provides relief for many local citizens, our goal is to accumulate tax-exempt donations to help with Waypoint’s expenses.

Escape Rooms are practically a giant puzzle that must be complete within a set time constraint. The only difference is, you're in the puzzle! Typically confined inside a tight room indoors, an Escape Room is exactly as it sounds. The room itself contains all of the answers need to escape, so there is no use of phones or the internet, but rather the human brain. The best part about the experience is that it can be done with friends or complete strangers.

A relatively new trend, the concept originated from online escape games in Japan. Now found almost anywhere, they are must have experiences!

It is vital for the Escape Room to be centered around a theme of some sort. In our case, we chose to focus around the concept of sports. Through the studying and research of Escape Rooms, our group was able to plan out the constructs of a simple yet effective activity for the whole family.

Allowing for interactive fun, escape rooms have become extremely popular all over the world. With its engaging situations and challenges, each player has the opportunity to “save the day”!

Become a benefactor and donate to the humane organization of Waypoint! Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
