Benefit Night TONIGHT at Culvers of Okemos!!
October 04, 2016
If you have known me for any length of time, chances are you know my passion for the Kenyan people after spending my formative years growing up there. You may also know that while I enjoy an active lifestyle and exercising, I have avoided running like the plague, for many reasons (pain/torture, but mostly fear). Imagine my surprise when I felt the overwhelming urge to join the Hope Water team and sign up for my very first race EVER- the Detroit half marathon on October 16th. You see, after 11 days of living with the Pokot people of western Kenya, I saw first hand how life is concentrated on the the quest for water. Teh average Pokot woman walks between 6 nd 12 km one way, two times a day. And this is for DIRTY water. The need is overwhelming. How could I now experience this first hand and do nothing? I decided I MUST be part of the solution. I'm hoping YOU will also be moved by the stories and will choose to partner with me. Couple of options come to mind. 1. Train and race alongside me. Or, 2. Partner with me by donating to Hope Water. Did you know it only takes $24 to give one person clean water for life?? How insane is that? So, who's in? Let's do this! I certainly can't do it alone....
