Hi, my name is Jay McMillan. On January 4th, one of the best men I have ever know died from ALS. Alfredo Jose Ochoa was more then a co-worker; he was my friend, an admired co-worker, and a devoted husband and son. Over the last two years, we sadly watched as this terrible disease slowly took away all his motor skills. As I sat with his beloved wife, while she was keeping vigil on Jose's last day, she told me that she had never heard of this horrible disease before his diagnosis. After hearing this, I had an incredible urge to do something - anything to help bring more awareness to this deadly disease. An avid runner, I decided to run a marathon is Jose's honor and raise money to donate to ALS awareness and research. My original goal was to train for an event later in this year. But, as anyone who has ever battled this devastating disease knows, time is of the essence. So on April 8th, I am going to run the Garden Spot Marathon which is in the same town where Jose worked (and I still work). While discussing that another of our employees, Mike Marcon decided he wanted to help too. He has signed up for the Half marathon on the same day. And even better, our company, AFP Advanced Food Products llc, has offered to match whatever money we raise. All the funds will be donated to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association in Jose's name.
Thanks so much for your support!
